Papua New Guinea ::

Local buses (though few and far between) are the most inexpensive mode of travel in PNG. Cars can be hired from major car rental companies like Hertz, Budget, and Avis Rent-a-Car in the major towns. Most of the country is still not connected by roads and walking is the only way out.

A good way to travel around the country is by boats, which, though uncomfortable, are inexpensive and extensively connected. You can get passenger ships, freighters, charters, outboard dinghies, and canoes to the major towns.
